Since then, most have disappeared. However, four hundred kilometers from the largest desert on Earth, one of these magnificent ancient forests survives to this day, providing shelter to animals that are not found anywhere else in the world. Garajonay National Park is a true hidden paradise on the island of La Gomera, in the Canary Islands (Spain), where wildlife thrives without human intervention.
