From the sky

Twenty-two villages and cities of Extremadura, in southwestern Spain, have Special Bird Protection Zones because of the importance of the species living between the walls of their churches, palaces and streets, a pioneering initiative in Europe. The white storks, the jackdaws, the lesser kestrels and many other birds that choose the Spanish cities and towns as their homes, bring new life energy into the clefts of history written on their monuments. The cracks that history has opened in the monuments enable the swifts to build their nests in which they can take care of their chicks.
